What is the mean score for the attitudes for ninth graders at the junior highschool setting? What is the mean score for attitudes for ninth graders at the senior highschool setting? What was the initial probability statistic where there was clearly no significant difference between these two means? In yours words, what does that mean in relation to the third purpose statement?

Researching the attitude toward self and school demonstrates such means: 77.87 for ninth graders in JHS and 78.12 for SHS students. The p value for the test is different and is projected as .05, namely (1-.05=.95) 95% probability that these indexes are true. Although the p value is a little lower here as compared to previously considered hypotheses, its meaning is still extremely significant. In this way, the results evidence that SHS ninth graders have higher rates of attitudes toward self and school.

  1. In your opinion, do the results reported here support the placement of ninth grade students in junior highschool in the place of senior highschool? Explain in relation to all three purpose statements.

Irregardless of that JHS ninth graders have been found more active extracurricular activities participants and observably higher GPA rates as those of SHS, their mean of attitudes toward self and school are lower. In this regard, you’ll be able to assume that JHS students are ready to study well and stay active out of the lessons’ scope, but their socialization levels are low. Thus, ninth graders should not be placed to SHS instead of JHS whereas their self and school attitudes are not well formulated and shaped enough at that age period.

The fourth step is the development of a baseline. The baseline should be developed in compliance with the provisions of the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) and the reporting requirements of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA).

The fifth step is the identification of strategies to prevent pollution plus the conduction of opportunity assessment. This will be done using the baseline data to comply with the provisions of the law relating to pollution.

The sixth step is to come up with a criteria rank pollution prevention activities at the manufacturing plant. This involves the integration of key prevention strategies into the activities of the manufacturing plant.

The final step is to conduct a management review, which helps in the assurance of support from the upper management. The process for pollution management is underway at this stage.

Question 2: Steps to Minimize the Amount of Feedstock Consumed and number of Waste Generated

The first step is resource optimization, which would ensure the industry maximizes the use of its raw materials without going beyond the limit.profile writing sample

The second step is to engage in the reuse of scrap metal within the industry. It would be imperative to investigate this step to ensure the industry re-introduces its scrap at the beginning of each manufacturing process to come up with services that help reduce the amount of wastes.

The third step is to establish an improved quality control and process monitoring procedure.  Bishop (2000) affirms that an improved quality control and process monitoring would ensure that the amount of feedstock consumed is kept at a minimum plus the number of waste in the industry reduced somewhat.

The fourth step is to engage in waste exchanges. This step is undertaken to ensure that the waste product of one stage is used since the input in the next process in the industry. The amount of feedstock consumption reduces hence reducing the amount of wastes produced.

The last step is to ship raw materials and components directly to the point of use to minimize handling at different stages of the manufacturing process hence alleviating the amount of wastes produced.

Question 6: Problems with the Cause and Effect Process

One of the most significant problems with the cause and effect process is that it does not easily reveal the root cause in instances where in actuality the cause is not known. Notably, the cause and effect requires a preemption of the cause that could have led to the problem. The lack of a known problem makes it problematic for the cause and effect process to show the root cause of the problem. This may water down the efforts of investigators by making them select a wrong root cause of the problem.

Additionally, the cause and effect process tends to assume that all symptom has one cause. This might not be necessarily true in cases where the symptoms have more than one cause.  Oakley (2003) asserts that it does not put into consideration other sufficient causes of the identified symptoms hence narrowing the scope of focus. Investigators would not be able to identify other causes relating to the identified symptoms. This is because each symptom would have to be limited to one cause.

Question 2

School-wide Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) and Universal Design (UD) are two measures that support the inclusion of students with SCD in accessing the general curriculum.

         (a)  identify PBS and explain how it definitely impacts behavior and learning for all students.

         (b)  Define UD and explain how it impacts greater access to the general curriculum for students with SCD.

  1. PBS is a system of behavioral support that works through prevention and intervention to ensure that the students are learning adequately and behaving appropriately. School Wide Positive Behavioral Support entails three tiers of action where teachers are prompted to focus on the overall school, some of the students and then a few students (Agran et el., 2002). The core aspects in this approach are prevention and intervention and thus there is a lot to be done. By emphasizing the student body as a whole, this proactive approach allows the students to be educated on what is expected of them. In addition, the focus on specific students for intervention enables the students to reform and thus behave properly. PBS generally works with the academic support systems through mentorship, class management and positive reinforcement in addition to high expectations. This is how this approach manages to improve behavior and learning in the school for all students.
  2. Universal Design for learning allows for the formulation of specific frameworks that allow for flexibility in the instruction models such that instructors are able to meet the needs of their students (Agran et el., 2002). The UD impacts the students’ access to the general curriculum by reducing the barriers and accommodating the special needs of the students with SCD. In addition, all this is accomplished without decreasing the expectations of those students thus making their access to the general curriculum complete and fair.

Question 3

In terms of early literacy for students with SCD, name and describe two barriers at home and two barriers at school that most young ones in this category experience (total of 4).

in relation to early literacy for students with SCD, the two barriers at home are low expectations and lack of information while at school they include low expectations and improper assessment practices.

  • Parents often lack information on how to take care of their children with SCD. In most instances, the parents develop really low expectations and seem to give up on the abilities of their youngster (Agran et el., 2002). They thus do not encourage them to learn as they would with a nondisabled youngster. The lack of encouragement equals a lack of motivation and thus the youngster is unlikely to gain curiosity about learning.
  • Given that they do not know what you should do, these parents neglect the literacy of their young ones in the hope that once they are old enough to go to school they will be helped by the specialists.
  • At school, having low expectations suggests that the students with SCD aren’t challenged enough to learn like their nondisabled counterparts. This limits their abilities in that they do not get enough motivation to work harder and learn more.
  • Inappropriate assessment prevents the teachers from knowing the students in terms of what they already fully know and how a lot more they need to learn. This impedes their literacy development from a tender age.

Question 4

List and describe four ways that teachers make literacy accessible and provide more opportunities for young ones with SCD.

The four ways through which teachers make literacy accessible and provide more opportunities for young ones with SCD include having high expectations, incorporating conversational skills into the academic program, formulating relevant IEP and accurate assessment processes.

  • High expectations raise the bar and challenge the students to learn more. The teachers may also be challenged to teach more and thus the consequence is higher literacy levels and more learning opportunities for the students (Agran et el., 2002).
  • Incorporating a functional skill into the general academic learning will ensure that the students learn how to listen and speak properly within a familiar classroom environment.
  • IEP ensures that the student is taught what they need to learn at the time. Which means when it is relevant, the student is likely to learn more.
  • Assessment is vital in knowing how effective the teaching strategies have been and how even more needs to be done. By assessing the student through the right parameters, the teacher is prone to understand what they must do to improve the child’s opportunities to learn.

Question 5

Browse the internet site on writing with symbols @ www.widgit.com and describe three aspects of this feature which will assist young ones with SCD in communication and early literacy.

Generally, being able to read is a basic skill that a lot of people take for granted. The world is full of text in terms of warnings, instructions an even information. This renders out the people that have a difficulty with reading and recognizing text such that they are able to only be communicated to through symbols (Agran et el., 2002). The symbols used are often colorful such that the students with SCD can easily find them interesting. This aspect helps in attracting their attention to the message being conveyed in the symbols. They are often clear, such that the message isn’t confusing. When these symbols are used together with their corresponding texts, they help the student to associate the text along with its meaning as shown in the sign. Which means other than being an alternative to texts, these symbols help in understanding the texts for better literacy among students with SCD.

Question 6

The appropriate ‘wait-time’ is vital in gendering a response from a youngster with SCD.  Often times the student may know the answer, but takes slightly longer to comprehend the question, and additional time to communicate a response.  Review the research on ‘time-delay procedures’ from Collins & Griffen (1996).

         (a)  Give a overall description and results of the study by Collins & Griffen.

         (b)  Define zero-delay variation in the systematic prompting system.

  1. The study by Collins and Griffen (1996) was aimed at investigating the effectiveness of time delay in teaching instructions for product warning labels and the generalized responses from the students. In the study, the participants were four elementary school students with moderate mental retardation. These people were given individualized instructions using the constant time delay procedure and multiple exemplars plus the results showed mastery after 8 to 16 sessions. In addition, the students had moderate to high results in their maintenance and generalization in the post intervention phase of the study thus implying that constant time delay is useful to the teaching of students with SCD (Collins & Griffen, 1996). Students are unable to respond immediately even when they recognize the stimulus but prompting them after a short period of time period is beneficial as it improves their ability to respond. As soon as the prompting is eventually stopped, they are still able to recognize the words thus maintenance and generalization may also be achieved.
  2. A zero second delay variation implies not waiting at all before prompting the student. Which means the instructor responds soon after asking the student the question. This method is often used in simultaneous prompting as it provides for probe sessions prior to the instructional sessions where in actuality the student is asked equivalent question and not given a prompt to ascertain whether they can respond correctly or incorrectly (Collins & Griffen, 1996). A zero second delay ensures that the child isn’t given the opportunity to give a wrong response, and thus they eventually learn the correct response.

The blending of cultures that result from globalization is enabling people to relate solely to each other on a religious basis. Over the past few decades, an environment of increased religious intolerance was developed. When one person moves, they often take with them their personality, culture, lifestyle, and religious opinions along making use of their belongings.

The development of an increasingly integrated global economy that is marked by a free flow of capital, health practitioners without borders, free trade and influx of cheaper foreign labor markets features a great effect and impact on religion. A case of doctors without borders—this organization was formed to break barriers to make certain that doctors travel as easily possible to aid patients. Along this organization came civilization plus the spread of religion.

Most health practitioners have a belief. For a doctor to be able to have faith that they will be able to heal a patient, they have to believe in God or another supernatural power being able to watch over them and guide them. Since the health practitioners and nurses administer treatment to a patient, they strike up conversations to make the patient relax. Where in actuality the medicine known to man has failed, they often ask a patient if they think that God will be able to heal them. Globalization has lost to religion if anything, it really is plainly helping the world become more religious.

At one point, religions were strictly separated by geographical borders and money. With time, the religious landscape has drastically changed. With countries introducing visas plus the American dollar recognized as the formal and most important currency for trade, the world map is currently broken in to a globalized map. It really is now possible to travel in addition to trade almost everywhere in the world. Religious people take their opinions with them spreading them wherever they go.

During global expansion, companies feel the need to outsource. In most cases, employees are trained in the homeland and then transferred to the latest centers all over the world. This is one of the grand effects of globalization. When moving, humans feel the need to take along with them their culture, lifestyle and religious.

Globalization within the last 50 % of the century has given birth to globalization of religions and their resulting encounter with each other. People find it an easy task to come out making use of their HIV status and their sex life in world that is now open minded and accepts change. Due to a group of people that have adapted to the effects of globalization (provisions of ARVs and condoms) religions find themselves taking care after the orphans plus the patients enduring cancer and HIV/AIDS.

God has won within the fight against atheist and non-believers. The natural disasters and the incurable diseases that mankind is enduring are all a sign that man cannot live without God and in order to be prosperous, one has to locate it within, to hold on to a belief. (Shah and Toft)“If people are wealthier, more educated, and enjoy freedom, one might assume they would also have become more secular. They haven’t. In fact, the period in which economic and political modernization has been most intense—the last 30 to 40 years—has witnessed a jump in religious vitality around the world.” The article goes on to describe how God has won visitors to him over the years.

From the last 50 % of the nineteenth century to the twentieth, the religion of the world became certainly united and global in the global distribution of their adherents thus begun to rub of each other and influence each other’s adherents in new ways.

Buddhism and Hinduism spread such as a wild fire in the West and for the first time since formation it spurred its fangs into the Parliament and world politics. The first meeting of the Parliament of the World Religions in Chicago in the year 1893 laid a foundation for religion to be spread in the 1900s.

Looking further into this issue, globalization and religion have not always been good together. One seeks to gain the upper hand over the other. Adolf Hitler introduced the Holocaust as a means of eradicating the Jews in the 1940s and even though he was able to execute mass massacres, he encouraged other Jews to stand up globally and unite in order to protect each other as a family.

From their inception, Christianity and Islamic traditions became prominent as they spread globally and gave people solace and something to amidst their sorrows. Judaism was brought more into light after the Holocaust. Worldwide attention shifted towards this religion as a means of undoing the hurt and damage that had been caused by the Holocaust. Side by side, these religions have since built each other up. Where there is a Muslim group, Christians or Hindus will feel the need to have their own center, as this is unraveled, with time it helps to grow religion into an even bigger net. a certainly global presence of each religion, the accompanying growth of understanding leads to a deeper appreciation of alternate traditions in present day society.

“The Relationship of the Church to Non-Christian Religions”, was the Dogmatic Constitution decreed by the Vatican State in the years 1963-1965. The Vatican II plus the Roman Catholic leaders from various states took part of this creed. Today the world’s largest organized religious tradition is in Nostre Aetate and contains over a billion adherents and has more power within the happenings of the world than some presidents in their own countries. (VI)

In all the unsettlement and fighting and wars, the religious leaders stand up firm for individuals. In as recent as the 1970s-1994 apartheid of South Africa, the church was seen to intervene and helped the country out of the situation. Leaders like the Archbishop Desmond Tutu rose up against the leaders of apartheid and gave solace for to the people. (Shah and Toft) Globalization of religions took a bigger form and shape there and then because this developed in Africa and got the attention of the whole world. The other believers globally were encouraged by these activities and by using the media; the news was carried out to the whole world.

In a world where it really is now possible to truly have a full conversation with a person who is over 500 000 miles away as if they are right next to you, the spread and growth of religious groups seems to be thriving. VoIP use and Skype calls are all part and parcel of the tools that everyone is using to communicate easily. Thus the religious leaders also have to be educated enough to teach their followers, denominations and subjects that it is highly possible to form new branches within the telecommunication and teleportation systems.

With groups and organization like “One Goal” therefore the USAID, it really is easy for denominations to conquer the world and spread their opinions. One goal allows for everybody else to get and education and when educated, mankind has the ability to choose what to believe and chose to follow. This is often in favor of religious groups. USAID helps fund systems and an environment that is open to discuss the killer diseases and how to conquer them.

The relationship between mankind and God is one complex relationship that science is not able to understand or explain. Globalization breaks the once existing borders and makes it possible for Christians and non-Christians t fellowship together. As a results of this relationship, religion is promoted and deposited to all the four corners of the earth. The Muslims and Christians share a profound and deep belief of God being the omnipotence and unequaled creator, this makes their relationship more solid.

In industrialization, production, growth and expansion, people are seen to be taking their belief with them in trying to make a living and actually capitalizing. It is no surprise to find others turning to the Bible ( the standard basic living instructions for Christians). (moneynews.com) The investor Sean Hayman is set on investing wisely following a instructions that he gets from reading the Bible.

Nonetheless, religion and self-identity are said to be deteriorating as multinational corporations, outsourcing, and immigration are replacing traditional values at an alarming rate. With one of the largest currencies being used since the general trading currency, Europe plus the world at large are clearly affected by globalization as well as counter affecting globalization.

In general, this occurrence whereby different parts of the globe are unified through social, cultural, political, economic and religious traits is dissolving people’s identity and religion. When one gets out sourced, they cannot carry all their belongings fully. As a result, people lose their religion and belief with the big move.

Anti-globalization groups are in a bid to fight against local cultures being swallowed up during this crossover between multiple cultures. Local communities within the Eurozone are promoting localized goods over foreign products so that you can protect their religion. With NGO’s outsourcing cheaper foreign labor, religion is destroyed alongside culture. Many at times, someone who has lived and travelled lot has an identity crisis whereby they do not know which religion they participate in.

Asides from industries being all in favor of globalization, it does not take a genius to note that prominently traditional countries and regions are usually affected by globalization in a negative way. This is usually a highly controversial topic because on the other hand, globalization are attributed the award of spreading religions to non-believing nations.

There was often abandonment of both family and friends because of such obsession with the existent non-functional relationship, with the controlling partners often initiating such control-measures as emotions, food, sex/ intimacy and money. Such measures, if uncontrolled, often lead to stalking of partners, harassment and abuse regarding the weaker partner.  Through a group of case studies/ presentations and discussions, Moore highlights a problem that is widely unknown and constantly misunderstood. Women and men, who take part in relationships predicated on this unfortunate aspect of obsession, are able to not only to discover, but also practice health, loving relationships predicated on understanding in the long run (Moore, 2004).

What is the Predominant Love Style for most of the Characters Presented in the Book Confusing prefer with Obsession?

In the book, the various characters entailed, display types of love styles such as control through different means like manipulation by pregnancy, emotional and financial manipulation and acts of revenge against people seen as being threats to the relationship. Additionally, there is a pre-occupation utilizing the other partner’s whereabouts through monitoring and tracking. a restriction occurs in the sense of those whom such partners wish their other halves to befriend or communicate with. Food is utilized towards making such partners overweight, hence unattractive and undesirable to others. Addiction is another aspect that is utilized. This may be addiction to food, sex, drugs and alcohol, all aimed at preventing abandonment.

Attention seeking is another aspect that is used especially when one partner cannot control the existent relationship with the other often being anxious. Properly, the predominant love style for most of the characters in the book is one centered on control and aggression, with alcoholism and drugs playing fundamental roles in the eventual cheating and separation phases. Partners have a strong feeling of denial, that will be somewhat influenced by the impairment of daily functioning. This often results in a total loss of control. According to Moore, this is adequately termed as relational dependency (RD), as well as its effects are devastating and hence difficult to recover from. Eventually, it all boils down to obsession and manipulation with love taking a back-step in such case scenarios (Moore, 2004).

What Character if any did you Identify with most from the Book? This Can be either Yourself or Someone you Know.

The character I identified with the most is Nancy. She, though admitting her controlling behavior in the relationship, is unable to trace it back once again to her childhood upbringing. By being raised in an alcohol-controlled, and often violent-resultant parental relationship, she often felt lonely, abandoned and very confused. Such feelings often overwhelmed her resulting in her becoming unattached to the rest of society, while plaguing her deeper into depression. In result, when she met David, who was her first love, she became disillusioned due to the fact that though she enjoyed him, he was emotionally unavailable. This ultimately led to her being hospitalized because of staying in the relationship, where she offered her love, the consequential results notwithstanding. It really is against this background, that her current existent relationship with Ron proved to be negative in the long-run. This was because she initiated controlling measures knowingly or unknowingly, which contributed to her experience. Her children’s departure, sooner or later staying with her husband Ron’s parents is the results of her controlling and obsessive nature (Moore, 2006).
